| Frequently
Asked Questions
Below you will find answers to a number of frequently asked questions
about Prepaid Calling Cards.
What things should I consider when selecting
a card? TOP
There are a few things to consider:
Do you want to prepay for calling time or would you prefer to be
billed? There are excellent rates for both prepaid cards and dial
around services where you are billed by your local telephone company.
What country do you call the most, and are you getting the lowest
rate for that country? Our Calling Card
Report outlines the best selection of international
calling programs available. Thus, you are able to find the best
rate for the country that you call most.
How long is your average call, and how many times per month do
you normally call? Length and number of calls are important, especially
when considering a card with a connect charge. For example, if you
make many short calls, you may be better off selecting a card with
no connect charge, and a slightly higher rate per minute. Or, if
you make very few, but longer calls, you may be better off selecting
a card with a connect charge, and a lower cost per minute.
Is it important to be able to add time to your card? Some cards
are set-up for recharge and others are not. Recharge allows you
to add time to your card over the telephone using a credit card.
Some customers love recharge because it allows them to always use
the same PIN number.
What is a prepaid card? TOP
It is a prepaid method of making long distance domestic or international
calls. There is no monthly bill, and no detailed statement. Rather,
you pay for the calling time in advance and reduce the prepaid balance
as you make calls.
Why would I want a prepaid card? TOP
Often it is the most economical way to make international calls.
Also, it is a great way to avoid receiving monthly bills. Or, if
you do not have access to long distance service from your home or
dorm room, you can still make calls using a prepaid card. If you
travel, or are in the U.S. temporarily, prepaid cards are the best
way to make calls while away from home.
What is a connect charge? TOP
Often referred to as a "bong" charge, it is a charge that many card
providers assess upon initial connection of a call. Connect charges
enable the service providers to lower their cost per minute rate.
Tip - talk for more than a few minutes, and you will get the better
end of the deal.

TOP
You dial the toll free access number for the card and follow the
instructions for adding time to the card. This involves entering
your credit card number and expiration date as well as the amount
you would like to add to the card.
When I'm using a card, how do I know how
much time is left on my card? TOP
It depends on which card you use. Some cards give the amount of
money left on the card after you enter your PIN. Others give you
the number of minutes you can speak after you dial the number you
are calling. Some cards even give both.
When a card is all used up, what do I do
with it? TOP
If the card has the recharge option, you may add time to the card
and continue to use it again and again. If the card does not have
the recharge option, the card is no longer useful and another card
should be purchased.
